Babeland's boutique in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Interior architecture, fixture design, space-planning, and decor graphics done in-house. This store was a studs-out tenant improvement project in which walls were removed, windows bricked, wiring updated, and nearly every surface replaced or restored. The tin ceiling, floors, and cast iron window column are original to the storefront and date to the late Victorian era. The "words" and logo murals in this store are consistent with the wall treatments at Babeland's other stores. They are also echos of printed and digital collateral graphic design. Custom lozenge-shaped cabinets were designed and built to function as display islands, storage for back stock, and as refreshment or collateral bars during in-store events. Like Babeland itself, the store is the antithesis of a stereotypical, seedy adult store. The overall feel of the shop is light, clean, friendly, and feminine. It is a welcome respite and safe shopping space.
